Thinking about visiting Mexico but worried about the heat? Boca de Tomatlán, especially Villa La Sirena, offers the perfect off-season getaway from April to September—with fewer crowds, better deals, and plenty of ways to stay cool. Here’s why Boca should top your list!
Beat the Heat in Comfort
From April to May, temperatures are mild, making it a perfect time to visit. June through September sees warmer days, but Boca stays naturally cooler than bustling Puerto Vallarta, thanks to ocean breezes, lush greenery, and fewer buildings trapping heat.

Prefer indoor relaxation? Villa La Sirena’s modern air conditioning makes it easy to nap, read, or unwind with a movie during the hottest part of the day.
Adventure Awaits—After the Siesta
Late afternoons and evenings are ideal for exploring. Hop on a Panga boat tour along the south shore, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, or visit waterfalls in Quimixto and Yelapa for a refreshing swim.

Water Adventures That Keep You Cool
The ocean is your best escape when midday temperatures rise! Whale watching, scuba diving, surfing, and kayaking in Boca Bay offer an exciting way to stay cool.
Prefer freshwater? Just minutes from the Villa, Rio Horcones has shaded swimming spots, while Los Veranos offers scenic wading pools and even ziplining with a river view.
Bring a cooler with chilled cervezas and snacks, or visit one of the riverside restaurants for a laid-back meal. Not sure where to go? Ask Rafael, our onsite manager—he’s got the best local tips!

Higher Elevation, Lower Temps
Looking for a natural cool-down? Head east from Boca, where rising altitude brings a noticeable temperature drop.
✅ Ziplining in Los Veranos or strolling through the Vallarta Botanical Gardens provides refreshing shade.
✅ El Tuito, a charming mountain town, offers Raicilla tastings, art galleries, and cool mountain air—up to 10°F lower than the coast!
Enjoy the Rainforest Vibes
Unlike the scorching summers up north, Boca’s rainy season means brief afternoon showers that keep the jungle lush and temperatures comfortable. And don’t worry—tropical storms rarely impact this protected canyon village.

Hi There,
Such wonderful memories of our stay with you a couple of years ago. Am just daydreaming about bringing our daughter and family to Mexico next March and wondering if you have any two bedroom units that would accommodate a family of 4, two younger teenage boys. We did Costa Rica with them last year and after reading your newsletter, kind of thought there might be enough to do in Boca that is far and removed from PV.
Thanks in advance,
Susan Larson
